Dear Parents,

Happy New Year to you all
. We hope 2016 is a happy and healthy one for you all. Well done to all the pupils who took part in The Christmas Show just before the holidays. We will be entering the Senior Musical, A Frozen Adventure in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre Awards competition as we did last year. We might have more look this year!

Many thanks to all the parents who helped in any way to support our cake sale before Christmas. Thankyou to everyone who supported our Christmas Raffle, parents, sponsors and members of the wider community. Your support is very much appreciated. All monies raised will certainly help with the running costs of the school.
The most recent fundraiser, the Christmas Raffle brought in a total of €1191

Book Bills
Book Bills will be issued in the next fortnight. They are a little later than usual this year as they were not finalised until the end of November for definite. It was felt with Christmas approaching it would be better to leave their distribution until after Christmas. If they could be paid by Easter at the latest it would be great.

Power Soccer
Power Soccer will recommence this term every Friday for all classes. It will start this coming Friday, 29 th of January for six weeks which brings us right up to Easter. It will cost ten euros per child for the six weeks.

1916 Commemorations
To commemorate the events of the 1916 Rising, we will raise our Irish flag up onto our school pole as requested on Proclamation Day, March 15 th 2016. Every school in the country had been requested to do this on this day. David Swift from the National Heritage Council for Schools has also been invited to give a talk to the children and share some of his original artefacts from 1916 with the children.

School Website
The school website is updated regularly. All newsletters, news, school calendar etc.. is available always online. The School Website is a great way of keeping in touch with life in school at Gortjordan. Sometimes information is available online before it goes out in a newletter. The website address is: www.gortjordanns.com
