Newsletter – November 2015

School Fundraising Events
Clothes Collection
There will be a clothes collection at the school On November 20th 2015. This has proven to be a great way of generating some funds for the school. Bags of unwanted clothes, curatins, towels, shoes etc can be dropped of at the school on Thursday November 19th and early on Friday November 20th.

Cake Sale
Our annual cake sale will take place on Saturday November 21st after 7 O’ Clock mass. We would welcome the help of parents to help us run this cake sale. We hope to open the school at about 6 ‘O Clock to facilitate those dropping off baked items etc…..

Mayo Science and Technology Festival Week – Nov 9th to Nov 13th
As part of Mayo Science Festival next week, the children form all classes will attend a Science Show called “Mad Professor Workshop” at The Crossroads Community Centre in Cong, on Monday 9th from 11:15am – 12:15pm. We will travel to Cong by bus. This show is free of charge and the bus fee is being supplemented by Mayo Science and Technology Festival. Some of our own funds will cover the rest of the cost. Therefore this will be a free trip for the children and one I’m sure they will enjoy.

Following an in-class mini competition, two teams will represent the school at a Science and Technology competition next Wednesday 11th November at the McWilliam Hotel in Claremorris. Two teams, (1) Toby Bass and Ruairi Owens and (2) Thomas Smith, Iarlaith Kelly and Dara Whelan will attempt to construct a piece made using 20 spaghetti sticks and 1m of masking sticks. This must be able to take the weight of a marshmallow. We wish them the best of luck!

Christmas Raffles Tickets
Christmas raffle tickets will be for sale shortly. If anyone knows of anybody interested in sponsoring a prize for the raffle we would be very grateful for your help in sourcing raffle prizes.

Christmas Show
It’s hard to believe we are talking about Christmas already! Our Christmas Show will take place on Friday December 18th at 12:00 and on the evening of Monday December 21st at 7pm. We will also have our Christmas Raffle on the night of the show.

Christmas Holidays
The last day of school before the Christmas holiday will be Tuesday December 22nd. The school will be closed from December 23rd 2015 to January 5th 2016. School will re-open on Wednesday January 6th 2016.
Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
leaflets are being sent home for the Christmas Shoe Boxes. We would be grateful if you could return the boxes by next Wednesday November 11th.

Dance and Gymnastics
Eleanoir Regan Roberts will attend the school this term for drama/dance/gymnastics every Friday. This will cost each child 2 euro per week.

New Board of Management
Thank you to those of you who have submitted your names expressing interest in being on the school board of management Ballot papers will be issued and a date released for the count of ballots in the coming days.
